What exactly is hope, and how does it affect a person's search for home and belonging?
THEMBA LO HAMBO (isiNdebele for ‘hope and journeying’) is a co-created project led by Zimbabwean artist Butshilo Nleya, developed in collaboration with Black migrant communities in Northampton and delivered in partnership with Royal & Derngate.
In the summer of 2023 Butshilo Nleya held a series of collaborative workshops using African theatre elements such as storytelling, dance and instrumentation, poetry and proverbs.
THEMBA LO HAMBO was first commissioned as part of PROJEKT ELEVATE 2022.
