DESIRE MAPS is an interactive map making performance in which audience members are invited to reimagine the geographical journeys of their ancestors.

A collaboration between PROJEKT EUROPA and Coney together with visual artist and video designer Akhila Krishnan, DESIRE MAPS is an interactive performance looking at migration, climate crisis and the intersection between personal history and global events.

This participatory performance project creates an invitation for audience members to redraw the journeys of their ancestors, step into their shoes and imagine a moment of choice – this way or that? If they could have taken a different route, where would they have gone? And where might they have ended up?

DESIRE MAPS is being presented as part of the caravan showcase assembly at the Brighton Festival 12-14th May 2024. We are looking for collaborators and co-producers to continue developing this project - if you are interested in hearing more, drop us a line!

The initial development phase of this project was developed with the support of the National Theatre’s Generate Programme - with huge gratitude to performers Ania Varez, Rudzani Moleya and Tara Fatehi for their contributions to the piece.
